Kirkland is part of the Lake Washington School District, which also includes the cities of Redmond and Sammamish.
The LWSD includes more than 26,000 students in 53 schools.
This is also the time of the year when speed limits for school zones will be enforced throughout the city by the Kirkland Police Department.
Redmond Coding Association also focuses on e-waste collection and will host a ‘hackathon’ this summer.
Councilmember Reagan Dunn and more than a dozen business owners argued tips and health care expenses should be a part of the new wage. The council passed the ordinance without the amendment.
Nearly $600,000 in funding has been designated for the program, with applications accepted until Sept. 30.
