Between May 25 to June 1, the Kirkland Police Department reported 426 traffic violations (at least three DUIs), 22 alarm calls, 10 car accidents, four burglaries, 10 noise complaints, 11 thefts, 12 car prowls, five malicious mischief calls, 11 domestic violence calls, eight incidents of harassment, 10 calls of a disturbance, eight illegal substance, four assaults, one car theft, eight civil issues, 10 disturbances, 10 acts of fraud, two robberies and five animal control calls. At least 39 people were arrested.

June 1

Malicious mischief: 12:54 a.m., 124 Kirkland Ave. A 47-year-old Kirkland man got into a verbal altercation with a cab driver after the driver refused to give him a ride. The man became angry and kicked the passenger-side door of the cab, creating a scuff mark and small dent. Upon contact from police the man denied the action. The cab driver identified the man and he was taken into custody without incident.

Assault: 7:38 a.m., 10400 block of N.E. 110th Street. A 40-year-old Kirkland woman was arrested for fourth-degree assault.

May 30

Warrant arrest: 12:52 a.m., 11600 block of 100th Ave N.E. A 35-year-old Kirkland man was arrested on his $5,000 driving with a suspended license warrant out of Kirkland.

Domestic: 9 a.m., 12600 block of 94th Ave. N.E. A 34-year-old Kirkland man was arrested for fourth-degree assault after he elbowed a female victim during an altercation. A protection order was put in place and the female was given a domestic violence handbook.

Illegal substance: 12:02 a.m., 12200 Slater Ave. N.E. Two 20-year-old women were stopped on a traffic violation when the police officer noticed the smell of marijuana emanating from the car. The women refused a search of the car, but allowed a search of their purses. One woman was arrested for the small amount of marijuana in her purse and the other woman was arrested for minor in consumption and submitted a blood alcohol content of .036 and having a bottle of wine in her purse.

May 29

Domestic: 4 a.m., 12600 block of N.E. 119th Street. A 21-year-old Kirkland man was arrested after he broke a female friend’s windshield with his fist during an argument. The two went into a residence where the man pushed the woman into a wall, causing a hole in the wall. The victim had redness and swelling on her arm. The man was arrested for fourth-degree assault and malicious mischief domestic violence.

May 28

Warrant arrest: 2:50 a.m., 13000 116th Way N.E. A 17-year-old Kirkland male turned himself in on a juvenile warrant and claimed that he had gone back to school and wanted to turn his life around.

Minor, liquor violation: 11:28 p.m., 300 Central Way. A 19-year-old Kirkland man was contacted at the transit center after he was seen yelling and flashing gang signs to passing pedestrians. He provided a blood alcohol content of .142 and was arrested for minor in consumption.

Minor, liquor violation: 11:55 p.m., 400 Central Way. A 16-year-old Kirkland male was contacted while having an argument with his 15-year-old girlfriend on the sidewalk. The male was arrested for minor in consumption. The boy was found to have been arrested for the same offense a few months ago. Both were released to their respective parents.

May 26

Civil: 10 p.m., 13100 block of 107th Place. A 34-year-old man who runs a CD duplication business out of his home reported a theft by his friend. The friends only paid half the amount due and drove off saying, “I am not going to talk to you any more.” The amount still owed was $46. No arrest has been made in this incident.

Domestic: 4 a.m., 100 block of N.E. 130th Lane. A neighbor reported to police that he/she had heard loud yelling and arguing in the Hidden River Apartments. The woman in the suspected residence was uncooperative and argumentative when she answered the door. Her actions were a diversionary ploy, allowing a male subject to exit through the back window. The man was later identified.

Warrant arrest: 1:23 p.m., A 14-year-old girl, who was reported missing, returned home and locked herself in her bedroom. When the girl came out of her room she was arrested on a juvenile warrant.

May 25

Theft: 3:30 p.m., 12400 116th Ave. N.E. A 52-year-old Portland, Ore. man was arrested for theft after he had “short changed” two businesses for a total of $100.
