Arbor Day celebration in Kirkland at Everest Park on Saturday

Kirkland’s annual Arbor Day Celebration and forest restoration will take place on Nov. 8 at Everest Park, 500 8th Street South, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Kirkland’s annual Arbor Day Celebration and forest restoration will take place on Nov. 8 at Everest Park, 500 8th Street South, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Volunteers are invited to support Green Kirkland Partnership stewardship efforts, reconnect with nature, plant native trees, shrubs and ground covers, and remove aggressive invasive plants.

Free pizza will be provided courtesy of The Watershed Company for all volunteers during the lunch break.

At 12:30 p.m., join Kirkland Mayor Amy Walen, Washington State Department of Natural Resources’ Ben Thompson and Kirkland Urban Forester Deb Powers in a commemorative Arbor Day tree planting.

Following the ceremonial planting, forest restoration efforts will resume until 2 p.m. Tools, gloves and refreshments will be provided. Sign up online at www.earthcorps.org/volunteer.php.
