Innovative approach to early childhood education attracts great teachers

What’s your dream job?

For a teacher, it doesn’t get much better than bringing quality education to students inspired to learn.

“Our teachers find joy in coming to work every day and having a positive impact on the lives of children who are not only cared for, but thriving with a quality education,” says Kiddie Academy of Greater Seattle area’s Amy Frentzen, Corporate Recruiter.

This winter, Devinder Singh and his partners will open new, state-of-the-art Kiddie Academy franchised locations in Kenmore and Bellevue, joining schools in Kirkland, Bothell, Mill Creek and Seattle at Queen Anne, with programs for infants to pre-kindergarten students.

“One of the key things we hear from our team is that it feels like family – people feel happy and involved and recognized,” Devinder says.

Here’s why:

Innovative early childhood education: From infants first experiencing the world around them to pre-K students excited for their next adventure in education, the multi-faceted Kiddie Academy program takes a whole-child approach, exploring language, numeracy, character and health, complemented by ample outdoor play, arts and technology.

Inspired teachers are crucial to that, and it shows. “Every week, families share with us how connected our teachers are with their children’s needs, meaning students are thriving and excited to come back – a great experience for a teacher!” Devinder reflects.

A team approach: The collaborative Kiddie Academy setting embraces a co-teaching model, with instructors early in their career benefiting from mentoring and ongoing support. “This is a caring field and our instructors really appreciate the sense of community that is part of the Academy’s culture at all levels – most of our leadership team started in the classroom working closely with children,” Amy says.

“No day is the same, and people who embrace our holistic approach to early childhood education really thrive,” she adds, noting teachers with diverse backgrounds and interests also enrich the classroom setting, whether it’s with art, dance, music or language.

Different ages and stages: Welcoming infants to age 5, learning and playing in age-appropriate groups, the model lets instructors just starting out in their career explore the rewards of working with different age groups.

“While care and education needs will be different at each level, we’re excited to welcome instructors inspired by engaging interaction with the children, creativity and sharing a love of learning,” Amy says. Support roles are also available, depending where someone is in their training and experience.

Room to grow in your career: These new Academies also mean new positions for educators. Beyond practical benefits, including competitive wages, medical, vision and dental benefits, and performance-based rewards, each Academy offers career growth and advancement opportunities, including ongoing education, training and hands-on experience.

“A lot of our energy goes into creating the right environment,” Devinder says, pointing to features like the comfortable staff lounge to relax or create lesson plans. “Kiddie Academy attracts early childhood education professionals who want to be at the top of their field.”
