Ugandan physician recognized by Time Magazine to speak about HIV/AIDS in Kirkland

Dr. Peter Okaalet, senior director for Health and HIV/AIDS Policy at MAP International and a key global leader in transforming HIV/AIDS education and prevention in Africa, will speak at a Kingdom Impact Series luncheon at 11:30 a.m. April 14 at Northwest University in Kirkland.

Dr. Peter Okaalet, senior director for Health and HIV/AIDS Policy at MAP International and a key global leader in transforming HIV/AIDS education and prevention in Africa, will speak at a Kingdom Impact Series luncheon at 11:30 a.m. April 14 at Northwest University in Kirkland.

He will discuss his work guiding church and government leaders toward a deeper understanding of and support for those suffering with or impacted by HIV/AIDS.

Dr. Okaalet, a Ugandan physician, was named a 2005 Time Magazine “Global Health Hero” for his groundbreaking work in engaging the African church to teach and support people suffering with HIV/AIDS and their children, many of whom will be left as orphans when their parents die. Dr. Okaalet holds Masters degrees in both divinity and theology as well as a degree in medicine.

Map International is a global Christian health organization that partners with people living in conditions of poverty to save lives and develop healthier families and communities.

The event is open to the public and tickets are available for $15 at http://kingdomimpactseries.eventbrite.com. The luncheon’s sole purpose is to raise awareness.
