Trick or Treat at the KPD

Walking down 2nd Street in Kirkland’s Norkirk neighborhood Oct. 30, little Jackson Woodruff was debuting his Halloween costume a little early.

Complete with badge from the “Toyland Police Department,” Woodruff was itching to get outside and on the beat as a pretend-policeman. Outside on their walk, grandmother Arianne Somers thought her grandson might enjoy a little visit to the place where adults wore the same costume in real life.

“He just loves seeing the cars and trucks,” she said.

So they paid the Kirkland Police Department’s front counter a visit. Won over by the trick-or-treater’s choice of attire, KPD Records Supervisor Peggy Malkowski and Capt. Bill Hamilton came out with a few treats for the young boy, including a flashing bicycle light and a toy badge.

“After the firefighters, we’re probably the second most popular group for these boys,” Hamilton said.
