Summit aims to connect Kirkland youths to community

Teens are being encouraged to apply for an educational opportunity to learn about the community.

The Kirkland Youth Council is encouraging Kirkland middle and high school students to apply to participate in a half-day summit on Thursday, March 29 at Bastyr University to learn about the community.

Students who are accepted will attend a variety of sessions in a conference style format to learn about how the City of Kirkland deals with transportation, parks, teen rights and mental health. Students will also be able to provide input on what they would like to see changed in their community.

Registration is required for the event and can be completed on the City website at www.kirklandwa.gov/youthsummit. The deadline to register is March 21.

There are limited spots for each school and students will be chosen randomly. Transportation will be provided from schools in the Lake Washington School District.

Participants will also receive lunch and four hours of community service.
