The Kirkland Heritage Society has awarded its annual $2,000 scholarship to Katherine Ryan, a senior who recently graduated from Juanita High School.

Ryan won the scholarship contest with her essay, “Kirkland; My Destination, My Home.”

Throughout her high school career, Ryan was involved in soccer, track and field and student government. She has also been involved in the local community through honor society.

She will be attending the University of Washington in the fall to study communication and business.
