Residents invited to comment on stormwater management plan

The city is accepting feedback through March 8.

The public is invited to comment on the City of Kirkland’s 2018 NPDES Stormwater Management Plan, now through March 8.

The plan outlines city efforts to protect area waterways by reducing stormwater pollution.

According to a press release, actions include education on natural yard care techniques, vehicle maintenance, tracing and eliminating pollutant discharges and spills to the city’s stormwater drainage system and maintaining a network of city-owned stormwater ponds, vaults, rain gardens and ditches that store, treat and transport stormwater prior to discharge to local creeks, wetlands and Lake Washington.

Comments can be provided via email to stormwater@kirklandwa.gov or via mail addressed to the City of Kirkland Public Works Department, 123 Fifth Ave., Kirkland, WA. 98033. To learn more about the city’s storm and surface water management programs, visit the city’s website.
