Chestnuts roasting on an open fire? Jack Frost nipping at your nose? It’s that time of year again to ring in the holidays with a selection of seasonal delights from Kirkland Choral Society. This year, KCS will explore one of the most ancient and beautiful of Christmas texts, the “Magnificat” (“Songs of Mary”), in settings by six composers from Baroque to contemporary: Buxtehude, C.P.E. Bach, Mozart, Stanford, J. Michael Thompson and Ruth Watson Henderson. KCS will also make the season bright with a rousing round of traditional carols, a suite of Hanukkah songs and other festive favorites during the following performances: 2 p.m. Dec. 5 at Bastyr University Chapel, 14500 Juanita Drive, Kenmore; and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 10 at Daniels Recital Hall, 811 Fifth Ave., Seattle. Tickets are $18 adult; $12 seniors and students. For information, visit www.kirklandchoralsociety.org.
