Kamiakin Middle School will proudly present “High School Musical” at the end of January in Kirkland.
The fast-paced Studio East adaptation of this Disney classic will be performed by 29 Kamiakin students. Loosely based on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, this show has it all – rivalry, betrayal, suspense, and energetic musical numbers.
The story begins on New Year’s Eve, when Troy and Gabriella discover their love of singing. Back at school, the students of East High are divided into stereotypical cliques. Troy, the basketball team captain, and Gabriella, the brainy new girl, create chaos amongst the other students when they audition for the school’s musical. As Troy and Gabriella reach for their dreams they inspire their classmates to break free from the status quo. Everyone learns the value of acceptance and teamwork when they finally realize they’re all in this together.
Performances are 7 p.m. on Jan. 30 and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Jan. 31.
The performances will take place in the Kamiakin Middle School auditorium. The school is located at 11711 NE 132nd Ave. N.E. in Kirkland.
Tickets are $7 and can be purchased at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/972792.
