Kirkland student awarded PLU scholarship

Matthew Triplett, a student at Juanita High School, has been awarded the Pacific Lutheran University President’s Scholarship worth $26,000 per year, with the opportunity to earn more.

PLU offers many merit scholarships to recognize academic achievement, leadership and service, as well as the promise of continued success in these areas as a PLU student. Presidential scholarships are renewable for three additional years of undergraduate study.

Over 500 incoming first-year students apply for presidential scholarships each year. Students who have demonstrated significant leadership and service and have achieved a high GPA or test scores are eligible to apply.

For the 2018-19 academic year, 128 president’s scholars were selected. This year, the president’s scholarship recipients scored an average 1270 SAT test score, an average 30 ACT test score and have a 3.98 average GPA.

They have been invited to interview on the PLU campus in February to compete for the next level of PLU Presidential Scholarships — one of ten $31,000 per year Harstad Founder’s Scholarships or one of five full-tuition Regents’ Scholarships.
