Kirkland selected as Eastside venue for 2009 SIFF Film Festival

The 35th annualSeattle International Film Festival (SIFF) announced March 18 the screening of several films at the Kirkland Performance Center (KPC) in June.

According to the official press release, the dates and programming will be announced soon.

SIFF is recognized as the largest film festival (measured by the number of film entries) in the United States with 160,000 attendees viewing over 300 documentaries, independent and foreign films.

The festival branched out to Lincoln Square Cinema in Bellevue in 2006 and 2007 but the arrangement was not renewed last year.

KPC Marketing Manager Jennifer Bassman confirmed the film festival would show several films for at least a week during the festival, which is scheduled to run from May 21 to June 14.

“It’s really awesome,” she said. “SIFF is one of the biggest film festivals in the country … It’s great to bring SIFF back to the Eastside.”
