Kirkland Reporter masthead photo contest winner chosen

From the dozens of entries received by Kirkland Reporter staff, Timothy DeHan’s photograph of Lake Washington and the gazebo in Marina Park has been chosen to be the paper’s new masthead image.

The image was chosen by staff because it is an iconic location in Kirkland and it fits well with the type needed for the new masthead.

DeHan, a Redmond resident, recently retired from his job at Microsoft and has been taking more time to pursue his photography hobby. His work has been featured in a variety of magazines and books, including Birds & Blooms, and more can be seen online at photosbytim.net.

“Photography’s been a passion of mine for years,” DeHan said.

He has images, including the winning one, printed on metal and glass on display and available for purchase at The Grape Choice in downtown Kirkland. Half of the proceeds from purchasing his photographs go toward Celebrate Kirkland, the city’s 4th of July celebration.

The new masthead is part of a redesign of the Reporter’s front page, which also rearranges the teaser images, moving them from the top of the paper to the side. The new masthead will first appear in this week’s edition of the Kirkland Reporter.

Reporter staff thanks all of those who took the time to enter their images in the masthead photo contest.
