Kirkland Cultural Arts Commission seeks nominations for CACHET Award

Recognize the efforts of the Kirkland arts, culture, and heritage community during 2012 by submitting your nomination for the Kirkland CACHET (Collaboration of Arts, Culture, Heritage, Education, and Theatre) Award by 12 p.m. Feb. 1.

The Kirkland Cultural Arts Commission and Mayor’s CACHET Award recognizes a business, organization, or individual who exemplifies the spirit of CACHET by fostering a vibrant arts, culture, and/or heritage community in Kirkland.

Nomination forms are available at Kirkland City Hall, 123 5th Avenue and the Kirkland Public Library, 308 Kirkland Ave.; and can be downloaded at www.kirklandwa.gov and requested by emailing kirklandcachet@gmail.com.

Eligibility and award criteria, as well as details on the selection process are included on the nomination form. The awards ceremony will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, March 11 at the Kirkland Performance Center, 350 Kirkland Ave., Kirkland.

Nominations will be pre-screened by the Kirkland CACHET committee made up of members of the Kirkland Cultural Arts Commission and volunteers. Final award recipients will be selected by the Kirkland Cultural Arts Commission and Mayor Joan McBride. The 2012 winner of the Kirkland Cultural Arts Commission and Mayor’s CACHET Award was the Kirkland Arts Center, located in the historic Peter Kirk Building on Market Street, for supporting excellence in arts education through its 70-plus classes, advocating artistic leadership, maintaining architectural stewardship of the Peter Kirk building, showcasing dynamic contemporary gallery exhibits, and supporting local artists. In 2011, it continued its tradition of building community by partnering with Eastside Domestic Violence and Antioch graduate students to create art therapy opportunities.
