The Kirkland Choral Society will celebrate human kinship and diversity in closing out their 2014-15 season with a musical trip around the world, exploring universal themes of love, nature and spirit in folk songs from a variety of cultures, languages and eras.

The group will perform “Songs or ourselves” folk music from around the world at 7:30 p.m. on May 15 at the First United Methodist Church in Seattle and at 3 p.m. on May 17 at the Bastyr University Chapel in Kenmore.

Led by KCS Artistic Director, Dr. Glenn Gregg, the choir will present the iconic sounds of India and the far east, the rich, life-sustaining rhythms of Africa, and the Celtic lilt of Ireland. The audience will enjoy touches of humor, passion, and beauty from the Americas, Australia, and the Pacific and be moved by a finale of joy and good will with the beautiful Scottish Folk Song, “Joy Be With You All.” Cultures worldwide treasure these songs and have passed them down from singer to singer for generations.

First United Methodist Church is located at 180 Denny Way in Seattle and Bastyr University Chapel is located at 14500 Juanita Drive in Kenmore.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and students.
