When Kirkland resident Rithika Binu, 7, grows up she wants to be an artist. It seems she has the knack for it, too. Earlier this month Binu was named the winner of Eastside Baby Corner’s Pants Party Poster Contest, a fun competition designed to generate art for the nonprofit to use in advertising its back to school event: Pants Party.

Binu learned about the contest from her art studio, Al Studio in Kirkland. She created a watercolor painting of a cowgirl, which complemented the Wild West theme of the upcoming Pants Party event. Her painting joined 24 other entries from children, ranging in age from 4-14, throughout the region.

As the contest’s winner, Binu’s art appears on all of the marketing materials for Pants Party, including posters hung throughout the region. She also receives a Target gift certificate, which will be presented at the Pants Party.
