EvergreenHealth partners with Sacred Art of Living for workshop

The workshop will take place on March 16 and 17.

EvergreenHealth and Sacred Art of Living will be hosting a community workshop on Friday, March 16 and Saturday, March 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at EvergreenHealth Medical Center in Kirkland.

The workshop is the second unit in a four-part series for caregivers focused on the intersection of spirituality and physical health. The Sacred Art of Living and Dying program utilizes a blend of content-oriented presentations, personal reflection, group processes and sacred ritual to teach participants best practices for finding meaning in their role as caregivers, particularly when treating patients at the end of life.

In Unit 2: Diagnosing Spiritual Pain, caregivers participate in an in-depth study of the four classical dimensions of existential and spiritual suffering: meaning, forgiveness, relatedness and hope.

Participants aim to develop an enhanced ability to recognize and celebrate the final gifts of growth and transformation revealed at the end of life.

The two-day program creates a retreat-like environment to examine:

  • The relationship between ethical and religious-based decision making;
  • Critical issues of spiritual and religious abuse as they relate to patients’ suffering and coming to peace at the end of life;
  • And the correlation between the traditional stages of human development and faith development, especially as it impacts end-of-life care and bereavement.

Bend, Oregon-based Sacred Art of Living is a non-profit Institute for Caregiver Education and Spiritual Formation that supports all people working in helping and healing professions. Its workshops offer a blend of content-oriented presentations, personal reflection, group processes and sacred ritual, with a special emphasis on native and Hispanic traditions.

This event costs $395.00 for community members, and $125.00 for EvergreenHealth employees. To register, please visit the website or call541.383.4179.
