Butterfly demonstration garden grand opening in Kirkland on May 14

The public is invited to attend the Butterfly Life-Cycle Demonstration Garden's grand opening at noon May 14, following the Green Kirkland Partnership/Earth Corps work party at Carillon Woods Park in Kirkland.

The public is invited to attend the Butterfly Life-Cycle Demonstration Garden’s grand opening at noon May 14, following the Green Kirkland Partnership/Earth Corps work party at Carillon Woods Park in Kirkland.

Mayor Joan McBride will cut the ribbon, and special guest Idie Ulsh, founder of the Washington Butterfly Association will speak briefly, followed by butterfly-related family activities.

The garden is funded by a Neighborhood Connections Grant and a Boeing grant to the regional office of the National Wildlife Federation. Volunteers have performed the garden’s design, planting and maintenance, coordinated by the Kirkland Wildlife Habitat Team.
