Woman scammed by magazine salesman in Kirkland

A few months ago I answered the door and ended up paying over $100 in cash to a magazine salesman who was "trying to get his life back on track." I realize this was a big mistake on my part, I don't think I even got a receipt or if I did I threw it away, trusting I would get those magazines.

A few months ago I answered the door and ended up paying over $100 in cash to a magazine salesman who was “trying to get his life back on track.” I realize this was a big mistake on my part, I don’t think I even got a receipt or if I did I threw it away, trusting I would get those magazines. Well I never did get one magazine, and was way too trusting.

I usually don’t answer the door, and guess I made the mistake to trust what this guy was saying. He was dressed up with a tie, looked very nice, said he was with a group that was traveling state to state, and it was a great thing for him. The job helped him to get off drugs, and off the street. Believable story, and being a compassionate person, I wanted to help him. He talked me into ordering way more magazines than I needed and I paid cash because that’s what I had. I’m wondering if anyone else in the area was scammed (or if they did get magazines) and I want to warn others in case this company comes back in town. Even in our community it’s not safe to answer your door anymore. Glad it was just money that I lost, but very sad that this man wasn’t telling the truth. It makes all the hard working people who are telling the truth look like liars. I just don’t know who to trust anymore.
