Kudos to Steven Swedenburg for giving some figures about the cost of Proposition 1. Special kudos to Dennis Shor for reminding everyone, in two letters, that there are retirees living in Kirkland who have supported the schools for years, as I have, and have seen their property taxes climb.
I have lived in the same house on South Rosehill since 1966 and have of course seen my property taxes go up, and up, and up. I am on a fixed income, and so, I will vote no.
Kirkland is becoming unaffordable for lower-income people and even for the former editor of the Kirkland Reporter, Carrie Rodriguez, who had to commute from Federal Way to her job because she couldn’t afford to live in Kirkland. So sad how poorly this reflects on Kirkland.
