“The Beach House” breath of fresh air

While walking by the old Foghorn/Fiorente restaurant last week, I noticed construction activity. When I stopped to inquire about it, I met the new owner, Ricky Eng, who told me that it the remodeled restaurant will be known as “The Beach House.” I am impressed that this young man has a creative plan that I think will finally bring this near-historic venue into the 21st century and actually turn a profit. Living only 100 yards from the place, I’m excited to see it develop under what appears to be the responsible management of a welcome and much-needed new young Kirkland entrepreneur.

We need a breath of fresh air around here, so I was also pleased to hear that Ricky has so far found the Kirkland city planning and public works folks to be reasonably helpful, accommodating and encouraging in helping him get his new venture off the ground. I would encourage the community to stop by and wish Ricky well.
