The request to Metro was technically correct but, as can be seen at bus-stops thru-out King County, there are no Metro-owned benches.

But, Metro’s more recent shelters include benches.

If the senior citizen and friends had been successful in obtaining a bus-stop shelter (by providing adequate boardings count a bench with shelter would have been installed. While driving around, watch for these more recent shelters.
