Disingenuous to say city led fight against Potala project | Letter

I think it's disingenuous to say "the legal battle between the city of Kirkland and Potala Village..." The problem was caused by the city and it's incompetent elected officials in the first place.

I think it’s disingenuous to say “the legal battle between the city of Kirkland and Potala Village…” The problem was caused by the city and it’s incompetent elected officials in the first place.

The citizens had to spend an enormous amount of time and money to even get the city’s attention that this was not an acceptable development, let alone to this point of correction.

We were met with resistance from the start, as elected officials and city employees tried to sweep this under the carpet. There was either corruption or such dereliction of duty that staff should have been discharged.

Instead, people kept their jobs, elected officials were re-elected or sent on to higher office, and Dargey will still get to build the development from hell… only smaller.

Let there be no mistake: this was a battle between a developer and the citizens of Kirkland, with the city doing a CYA.
