Michels came in at No. 36 on the Top 400 Contractors list released recently by Engineering News-Record. Michels has a facility in Kirkland, as well as 25 others from coast to coast, including in Canada.

The company’s ranking on the list, based on 2012 contracts, is up 14 places from the utility contractor’s previous ranking.

The ranking marks the eighth consecutive year that Michels has been in the top 100, beginning at No. 95 in 2006. Michels secured $1.6 billion in new contracts in 2012, up $500 million from 2011. This was the company’s fifth consecutive year clearing the $1 billion mark. Nearly $75 million came via international work.

While the top 400 list is the magazine’s main honor, other notable rankings for Michels included the No. 14 spot on the Top 20 list of Petroleum contractors, No. 20 on the Top 20 list of Communications contractors, and No. 46 on the Top 50 list of Contractors Working Abroad.
