JHS golf | Rebels place two golfers in top three at KingCo tournament

The Juanita High School boys golf team finished fifth out of the eight KingCo team to participate in the KingCo 3A/2A medalist tournament. The Rebels finished with a team score of 429, 42 strokes off the pace of the top team Mercer Island.

Despite the team finish, the 18-hole, par 72 course at Snohomish Golf Course was kind to two Juanita players. Michael Bell’s score of 73, not only met par but tied him for first place overall with Bradley Harrelson of Mount Si, who would win a playoff. The two players were nearly identical in scoring with the exception that Bell held a one-stroke lead after the first nine holes with 36 strokes played.

Rebel Colten Kleis was the only other Juanita player to score well enough to qualify for the district tournament. Kleis’ score of 75 was good enough for third overall. Kleis led the entire field during the first nine holes with 34 strokes but ran into trouble on the back nine by shooting a 41.
