A no vote on Prop. 1 is pro-kids and pro-public safety | Letter

The Lake Washington School District will have to propose a new bond measure, likely next year, to upgrade our kids’ schools and infrastructure. The city of Kirkland will likely need to ask for a bond in the next year or so to improve the fire district layout and effectiveness. Those new taxes are important for kids’ and grandkids’ educations, and for continued high-level emergency services in case they need help. I’ll gladly pay more taxes for those and want to.
Prop. 1’s new taxing will compete with those, with no defined endpoint for an undefined amount of spending and no direct voter control over how much is spent and how to end it.
Let’s show our kids how to be responsible taxpayers and leave them a community and legacy that hopefully they can afford to live in. Join me, and lots of other parents, and vote no on Prop. 1.
