Booking a private event? Read this first

There’s a lot to consider when it comes to booking a space for your private event. It can be stressful, with difficult back-and-forths, hidden fees and a sense of disillusionment as you find yourself having to readjust your expectations.

Join us as we sit down with Copperworks Distilling Events Manager Cheryl Glover and talk tips for finding the perfect space.

Thank you for joining us. In your experience, what would you say is the most important thing to look for in finding the right space?

“A good place to start is by selecting a venue with the right atmosphere. This doesn’t mean all the lights in the right places, it’s about the feeling you get around being there.

“One of the reasons Copperworks Kenmore gets so many requests for private parties and gatherings is because people want to create an environment where people can relax and be themselves.

“They also love the cozy atmosphere of our barrel room and the fact that we have a spacious patio and fire pit.”

So you find a space that supports the atmosphere you want to create. What’s next?

“There are likely a few contenders who align with your desired atmosphere, so it’s time to consider more logistical questions to home in on the right space.

“Where is the venue located? Is it close and convenient, or is it far enough to evoke the feeling of a ‘getaway’? How’s parking? Do they have the equipment you need? Is the space big enough? Too big?

“Folks hosting at Copperworks Kenmore love how well we answer these questions. We’re in a great location along the Burke Gilman Trail, have a spacious parking lot, are able to comfortably accommodate parties of just about any size, and have amenities ranging from a projector to a stage with a PA system.”

So you’ve homed in on the perfect fit. Is it time to reach out?

“It is. Get in touch with the venue’s Events Manager and lay out what you are looking for. Depending on the place, this is where you might get hit with a variety of pricing quotes and hidden fees. It can be overwhelming.

“We keep things easy at Copperworks Kenmore, no extra fees for our bartenders, set-up and breakdown, cleaning – you pay for the food and drinks, and that’s it. All drink offerings come from our cocktail bar and tasting room, featuring options for wine, beer and cocktails made with our award-winning Copperworks spirits.

“Our catering comes exclusively from our partner restaurant, De La Soil, whose fresh farm-to-table fare has been making waves ever since they opened earlier this year. All this with a fully refundable deposit, so you can book confidently.”

We’re feeling better already. Any closing thoughts?

“Identifying the atmosphere you want and working with a venue you trust will go far in making your event a success.”
