At the 16th Annual Polar Bear Plunge at Marina Park in Kirkland, residents braved the cold to ring in the new year. The unofficial event has become a yearly tradition with attendees jump into Lake Washington. While some participants came in costume for a little extra warmth, others ran into the water in their swimsuits. The event also collected food for a local food bank.
