Supporting the Arthritis Foundation, 19 Puget Sound area Massage Envy locations, including the Kirkland Massage Envy center located at 11620 97th Lane N.E. in Kirkland, will host Healing Hands for Arthritis on Oct. 12 – World Arthritis Day – to help raise awareness of those affected by arthritis.

As part of the one day nationwide fund-raising event, Massage Envy centers will donate $10 from each one-hour therapeutic massage session or facial session to the Arthritis Foundation. Monetary donations will also be accepted Oct. 12.

In addition, Murad, Massage Envy Spa’s strategic skin care partner, will donate 10 percent of all product sales at Massage Envy Spa locations during the event to the Arthritis Foundation.

The event is open to the public and requires an appointment. For reservations, contact the Kirkland Massage Envy location at (425) 284-4284, or visit www.MassageEnvy.com.

“Most of us know at least one individual, young or old, impacted by arthritis. There’s no better way to give back than to treat yourself, a friend or family member to a relaxing and rejuvenating massage or facial,” said Justine Peshette, Kirkland Massage Envy co-owner. “This is our way of helping to fight a disease that affects 50 million Americans and is our nation’s most common cause of disability.”

Today, one in five adults and nearly 300,000 children suffer from the pain of arthritis, and massage therapy has been shown to help relieve some of the troublesome symptoms.

Massage Envy’s overall Health and Wellness initiative can play an effective role in alleviating the pain and swelling caused by arthritis, increase mobility and range of motion, increase muscle and joint strength, improve flexibility and circulation, and reduce anxiety.
