Expect traffic delays during annual Tree Lighting Ceremony in Kirkland

Commuters should expect traffic delays due to the Tree Lighting Ceremony to be held from 2-9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27 at the Lake Street public parking lot in downtown Kirkland. The following roads will be closed:

Commuters should expect traffic delays due to the Tree Lighting Ceremony to be held from 2-9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27 at the Lake Street public parking lot in downtown Kirkland. The following roads will be closed:

• Northbound and southbound lanes of Lake Street from Central Way to Second Avenue South

• Eastbound and westbound lanes of Kirkland Avenue from Lake Shore Plaza Drive to Main Street

• Eastbound lane of Park Lane from Lake Street to Main Street

The Lake Street public parking lot is located on the corner of Lake Street and Central Way and will be closed all day. For information on places to park in downtown, go to www.ci.kirkland.wa.us/parking.

The Kirkland Downtown Association hosts this event, which draws 3,000 participants. The ceremony includes festive music, a bonfire, tasty treats and the lighting of Kirkland’s beautiful 30-foot tree.

Event hours are 4-8 p.m. The tree lighting takes place at 6 p.m. on Kirkland Avenue, next to the Marina. For event information, go to www.kirklanddowntown.org.
