More than 450 volunteers constructed 32 wheelchair access ramps for low-income, disabled homeowners during the 16th Annual Rampathon in King & Snohomish counties May 16.

The Master Builders Care Foundation, a philanthropic arm of the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties, assembled more than 450 volunteers, organized in crews of approximately 10-30 homebuilder-remodelers, to construct the free wheelchair access ramps in a single day.

In Kirkland, Carlos Enriques received a wheelchair accessible ramp. Enriques suffers from diabetic neuropathy in his feet and legs, gout, peripheral vascular disease, renal insufficiency, hypertension, cardiac problems, and he recently suffered a stroke that affected his left side. The ramps was built by Westhill Inc.

Since 1994 Master Builders Care Foundation volunteer homebuilder-remodelers have designed and constructed more than 250 free wheelchair access ramps for low-income disabled homeowners in King and Snohomish counties. Rampathon is part of the Master Builders Association Centennial Celebration, recognizing its 100th anniversary. Rampathon 2009 co-presenting sponsors are Dunn Lumber and Washington Federal Savings.
