Katja Wiersholm of Kirkland capped a second straight year of historic success for American juniors at the Junior International Teen Tennis tournament in Bolton, England on Friday.

The 13-year-old, along with Victor Lilov, also 13, of Raleigh, North Carolina, each won the girls’ and boys’ singles titles over American compatriots.

Wiersholm defeated Katrina Scott — 13, of Woodland Hills, California — 6-4, 6-4, in the girls’ singles final.

In addition, Wiersholm and 13-year-old Robin Montgomery of Washington D.C., won the girls’ doubles title, 6-4, 6-2, over France’s Oceane Babel and Laia Petretic.

This was the second straight year both singles finals in Bolton were all-American, while last year marked the first time in the 24-year history of the tournament — which counts Andy Murray, Kim Clijsters, Justine Henin and Caroline Wozniacki among its previous finalists — that all four singles finalists were from the same country.

The eight-player American contingent that traveled to Bolton — along with United States Tennis Association’s national coaches Lori Riffice and Jon Glover — will now travel to Tarbes, France to play in the 14-and-under Les Petits As this week.
