The Juanita Bees, a girls U16 team in the Lake Washington Youth Soccer Association, captured the LWYSA District Two championship with a 4-1 victory over IFC Ghana on Nov. 18 at Eastlake High School. The Bees now advance to the state semifinals on Dec. 10 at the Starfire Soccer Complex in Tukwila.

This marks the third straight season the Bees have advanced to state as champions of District Two, having finished second in state play in 2016 and third in 2015. The Bees also completed their 2017 regular season undefeated, 11-0, having scored 42 goals and surrendering only five. The team is made up of Juanita High School area girls and is coached by Chris Burke, Mac Pinski and Nelson Taggart. Many have been playing together for about nine years.
