The Juanita High School fastpitch softball team is starting to look like the defending state champions. The Rebels crushed Liberty, 21-2, on Monday, holding their opponents to just one hit during the 10-run rule shortened game.
Lisa Nelson earned the win from the pitching circle, throwing five innings and striking out eight batters for Juanita.
Brynn Radke was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4, while Eden Radke blasted a home run for the Rebels. But the offensive explosion was not confined to the Radkes, as Gianna Paribello went 2-for-2 with double, Nelson went 2-for-4 and Tatum Kawabata was 2-for-4.
Juanita improves to 2-2 overall after starting the preseason 0-2. The team is now 2-0 in league play.
The Rebels will play again at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at home.
