I think proponents of Prop. 1 understate or don’t understand the impact of approving Prop. 1.

A “Yes” vote gives authority to the city to tax property at the rate of 75 cents per $1,000. This is not a vote about giving authority to tax property at just 25 cents per $1,000. Prop. 1 proponents use the word “expected” tax of 25 cents because that what politicians have told them they’ll do – but that’s quite different from what Kirkland voters are really being asked to do.

We are being asked to grant authority to the city to tax property at a rate of 75 cents per $1,000.
