The Lake Washington High School girls softball team played its first home game on the high school campus on Wednesday and walked away with a 6-0 victory against crosstown rival Juanita.

Tori Bivens took control of the game from the pitching circle and at the plate. The Kang threw a complete-game shutout, allowing just three hits, walking two and striking out ten Rebels.

Lake Washington broke a scoreless tie during the bottom of the fourth and then exploded for five runs during the fifth inning.

Former Lake Washington High School softball player Kristi Walker threw out the ceremonial first pitch to her daughter, and current Kang player, Hannah Walker. The Walkers have three generations who have played for the Kang softball team.

The stands were packed for the first game with many parents and students attending the game. The high school’s drum line was part of the festivities as the field was dedicated.

Juanita will get another shot at the Kangs at Lake Washington High School, as the two teams lock up again at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
