The International Community School (ICS) Mock Trial team finished in sixth place in the 26th Annual YMCA High School Mock Trial Competition.
ICS is located in Kirkland and is part of the Lake Washington School District.
That finish qualifies the team to move on to the state level event to be held in Olympia March 27-29. The competition is sponsored by the King County Superior Court and has students try a fictional case. This year’s fictional case had students both prosecuting and defending charges of official misconduct and computer trespass. The following students received special recognition: Outstanding Attorney: Fayrouz Elkordy (senior, Sammamish)
Thomas Karagounis (senior, Sammamish), Sydney Ku (sophomore, Redmond), Leina McDermott (senior, Kirkland) and Ronya Strom (freshman, Kirkland);
Outstanding Witness: Dorothy Jiang (senior, Redmond), Evan Ortega (junior, Redmond), Riley Stockard (senior, Kirkland), Adam Tazi (sophomore, Redmond)
