Three Northwest University athletes named Conference Player of the Week | College sports

Three Northwest University (NU) athletes were named Cascade Collegiate Conference players of the week in their respective sports as announced by the league office today. Leia Roy (volleyball), Acacia Johnson (women’s soccer) and Kelsey Greene (women’s soccer) earned honors for the week.
Leia Roy, a sophomore setter from Puyallup, Wash., was named the Red Lion CCC Defensive Player of the Week for volleyball. Leia was key in the two NU victories including a big win over Concordia on Saturday night. Roy totaled 49 defensive digs and added five service aces in the two matches.
NU sophomore Dakota Adams, of Yakima, Wash., was named honorable mention for offensive player of the week in volleyball. Adams had 15 kills against Concordia and hit an impressive .500 against Warner Pacific as she led the team in kills for both nights.
Senior Acacia Johnson, from Puyallup, Wash., became a three time Red Lion CCC Offensive Player of the Week for women’s soccer as she scored four goals in two games getting the game winner against Eastern Oregon and assisting on the winning goal in the College of Idaho game. She now has 16 goals for the season to lead the league. She ranks fifth in the NAIA in game winning goals (five) and 10th in goals scored (16).
Kelsey Greene, a junior from Sherwood, Ore., was named CCC Defensive Player of the Week for women’s soccer for the second straight week. Kelsey anchored the Eagle defense which yielded two goals this weekend, the team’s first goals given up in 8 games. Greene also scored a goal and added an assist in the NU win over Eastern Oregon to help the Eagles maintain their hold on first place in the CCC with a 7-0 record.
