Kirkland’s Month of Concern for the Hungry nearly doubles take from last year

Kirkland’s Month of Concern for the Hungry nearly doubled the amount of donations from last year’s food drive.
The event brought in 11 pallets, equaling more than 9,155 pounds of food, along with $2,450.59 of cash donations. Last year volunteers brought in $1,333 and 5,604 pounds of food.
The event took place Sept. 27-28 with 109 volunteers at nine Kirkland grocery stores contributing 250 hours.
Food donations continue to be accepted, by dropping food off at Kirkland City Hall located at 123 Fifth Avenue or HopeLink in Totem Lake at 11011 120th Ave NE.
