The Kirkland Art Center is hosting an arts and culture lecture series with “Biblical Heroines” being discussed from 6:30-8 p.m. on Nov. 6.
Here is a description of this event:
This lecture is a continuation of the Redressing the Nude series. Biblical Heroines will explore several questions regarding the lives of women in the medieval period.
Who were the biblical heroines depicted during the Early Christian and Medieval art? Do their spiritual roles reflect the perception of women in Medieval society? How does the dichotomy of the Virgin Mary and Evil Eve play out? Judith, Mary Magdalene, and Hildegard of Bingen are but a few more of the women that will be discussed. Can we understand the lives of women during this time period by looking at images of art? Come and find out for yourself.
The event will take place at the KAC, located at 620 Market Street.
Admission is $10.
