LWSD students competitive at National History Day National Finals

Students from three of the five district schools with qualifiers for National History Day made the top 14 and participated in the final round in their category. They were among students from around the country in the National History Day National Finals in Washington, D.C., June 15-19. Students from International Community School, Lake Washington High School, Redmond High School and Redmond Middle School and Tesla STEM High School attended the event.

Alina Liokumovich, Leina McDermott, and Mia Richards placed eighth in the Senior Group Exhibit category from International Community School in Kirkland for their project titled: “The Scenic Hudson Decision of 1965: Opening the Gates to Environmental Rights.”

This group also won a special award for Discovery or Explorations in History.
