Desperate call for volunteers to help with Saturday’s food drive in Kirkland

The Eastside Concern for the Hungry is well underway. Thank you to volunteers who helped bring in 3,115 pounds of food and $760 of cash on Sept. 24.

Kirkland almost doubled the food donations from last year’s first day.

Volunteers are still needed to help collecting food at Kirkland grocery stores from 9:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. (2.25 hour shifts) Saturday, Oct. 8. If you are interested, visit this Web site.

Donations will be accepted through Oct. 23 at the following locations:

• Kirkland City Hall, 123 Fifth Ave

• Kirkland Hopelink, 11011 120th AVE NE

• Peter Kirk Community Center, 325 Kirkland Ave

• Windermere Real Estate/Central Inc., 737 Market Street

100 percent fruit juice

Cereal/Oatmeal

Canned meat & tuna

Baby food jars (1st & 2nd foods only)

Nutrition shakes (Ensure, Boost, etc)

1 qt envelopes of powdered milk

Canned spaghetti sauce
