Make your escape to the Puyallup Fair that begins Friday

Published 5:47 pm Friday, September 9, 2011

The Puyallup Fair runs Sept. 9-25 at the Puyallup Fair & Events Center, 110 9th Ave. S.W., Puyallup.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday-Saturday.

Old-time Fair favorites include animal shows, 4-H and FFA students competing, grange displays, home arts cooking contests and quilts, the International Photo Exhibition that draws entries from all corners of the globe, Hobby Hall, floral designs, and rides, including the new thrill ride, Vertigo.

Due to Pierce Transit no longer offering bus service to the event, the Fair has created its very own “Fair Express.” Save time, gas and emissions by taking the bus, and being dropped off at the Green Gate. Round trip is $4, and one way $3 (cash).

Pick up the Fair express buses daily from South Hill Mall, between Macys and Sears; Tacoma Mall, north of Macys; Lakewood Towne Center behind Barnes & Noble; and Fridays-Sundays at Fourth Street and Northwest River Road in Puyallup, adjacent to Kmart.

Tickets are $11 adults, $9 youth (6-18 years) and seniors, and free for ages 5 and under.
