Lake Washington picks up win over Sammamish, Liberty | Prep baseball

The Kangs baseball team earned two solid victories last week, beating league opponents. On Wednesday, April 20 the Lake Washington baseball squad earned a 5-2 win over Sammamish.

The Kangs had a 1-0 lead at the end of the first inning, but Sammamish tied the game in the second. The Kangs added another run in the fourth, and two in the fifth for a commanding five run lead. The Kangs had five runs off four hits and no errors in the game.

Spencer Jackson was 1-1 during the game with two RBI, while Nori Shimizu was 1-2 with two runs and one double.

Against Liberty on April 22 the Kangs and Patriots held each other off until Liberty scored two runs in the third inning, followed by another run in the fifth. But Lake Washington’s bat warmed up in the fourth, packing in four runs for the lead. The Kangs had six hits and four errors in the game, while Liberty had six hits and one error.

On Tuesday, April 26 the Kangs lost a conference battle to Mercer Island 14-12. In a rematch from earlier in the season, the Kangs had an early first inning lead, before Mercer Island blasted home nine runs in the second. The Kangs are 5-4 in league play this season.

 

Rebels fall three times in week of games

Juanita couldn’t find it’s rhythm at bat last week, losing two league games, and a non-league match to Bothell.

On Wednesday, April 20 the Rebels lost to Mercer Island in a 10-7 game.

Mitch Gebe was 2-3 during the game with two RBI, while Conner Jackson was 2-4 with two runs, an RBI and a double, while Derek Kaufman had a single, double and a triple during the game, and Jyran McNairy was 2-4 at the plate.

Friday, April 22 against Sammamish, the Rebels fell 15-4 to the Totems. Juanita led 2-1 at the end of the first inning, but Sammamish kept scoring while the holding the Rebels off late in the match.

On Saturday, against Bothell, Juanita lost 9-2 to the 4A Cougars. Bothell blanked Juanita until the fifth and sixth innings. The Cougars had two runs in each inning but the final two.

Juanita is 3-6 in league games this season.
