Lady Kangs fall to Liberty to end season

A one point loss to the Liberty Patriots on Saturday ended the Lake Washington girls basketball season in their first year as a 3A school.

The Kangs lost Saturday night in the first round of the 3A KingCo playoffs at Liberty 55-54.

Lake Washington started the evening off with a solid 37-21 lead over Liberty at the half, but the Patriots slowed the Lady Kangs in the second half, holding the Kangs to just five points in the final eight minutes, while Liberty racked up 19.

Hunter Hopkins posted 14 points in the game, followed closely by 13 from Cassie Lively and 12 from Kat Whitfield. Whitney Dunlap had six points, Peyton Wozeniak scored five and Melissa Wilson had four points.

Lake Washington finished the season with a 7-7 league record, and had a 12-9 season record.
