On a day set aside to remember men and women who died serving their country, 1,500 bicyclists on Memorial Day instead thought about a different population – the homeless.

During the annual 7 Hills of Kirkland event Monday, cyclists pedaled as long as 100 miles around Kirkland, through rural King County, into the Snoqualmie Valley and north into Snohomish County, to benefit Kirkland Interfaith Transitions in Housing.

KITH’s mission is to assist Eastside individuals and families who are caught in a homelessness crisis. Event proceeds will help KITH provide homelessness prevention resources, provide transitional housing and assist in securing permanent low-income housing.
