The Lake Washington Dance Team opened up the 08-09 competition season by hosting their fifth annual competition Nov. 8. The 15 teams competed in the dance, hip hop, pom and drill categories.

The LWHS dance team competed in the pom category and could not accept a trophy as they were the hosting team, however, they received the highest score in that category. Congratulations to the team and their coaches Lindsey Beck and Carrie Robeson for placing first in the pom category.

Eastlake Dance took home the first place trophy in pom, followed by Hazen with second and Issaquah in third.

“The team went into the competition with the mindset to have fun and to do their very best,” said Beck. “I think they were pleasantly surprised with the results. I’m very proud of them”

This was the first competition of the season and the team is preparing for many more with districts and state in March. The LWHS team will compete at Shorewood High School on Dec. 6 and Sammamish High School on Dec. 20. To follow the team through their competition season, visit www.lwhsdrill.org.
