Weather pushes KingCo basketball tournament games to Thursday

Juanita girls, Lake Washington boys to play Thursday at Newport High

A series of school closures due to inclement weather has shifted the schedule for the Class 3A KingCo Conference basketball tournaments. The changes were made to allow an extra day of practice following conference semifinals on Feb. 4.

Initially scheduled to wrap up on Wednesday at Newport High School in Bellevue, the championship games and third-place games have been pushed back to Thursday at Newport High.

The Lake Washington boys are set to play Redmond in a loser-out game at 4 p.m. on Thursday, with the winner moving on to the Sea-King District Tournament.

Mercer Island and Bellevue will meet up in the conference tournament title game at 7 p.m.

The Juanita girls are set to play Redmond at 5:30 in the girls’ third-place game. Mercer Island and Bellevue will play at 8:30 p.m. to decide the girls’ tournament champion.

Saturday’s regional wrestling tournament at Juanita High, the district swim meet on Mercer Island and the district gymnastics meet in Ballard are on as scheduled.
