One young band of Kirklanders will return home clutching a state title trophy.

The Kirkland 9/10 All-Star softball team beat Camas 6-0 on Thursday at Stan Hedwall Park in Chehalis, claiming the Washington Little League state championship in the 9/10 division.

Kirkland pitchers Christina Minor and Kya Aldrich combined for a one-hitter, the only base knock coming in the bottom of the sixth inning with two outs.

Aldrich, who partnered with Minor to shut out every opponent in state tournament play, struck out the final batter to secure the win.

Minor scored the go-ahead run in the top of the first inning on an hit by Ava Warner and subsequent error from Camas.

An Aldrich RBI scored Mary Madaline Roe in the top of the sixth inning, followed by an RBI single from Makenzie Reynolds. A pair of errors opened the door for three more Kirkland runs, scored by Aldrich, Reynolds and Ashlyn Cook.

Minor finished with nine strikeouts through four innings.

Kirkland beat Glenwood 4-0 and Mukilteo 2-0 in the first two rounds before beating Camas in the championship semifinals. Camas beat Mukilteo in the consolation bracket to reach the tournament championship game against Kirkland.
